A group was formed from representatives of Kumeu, Huapai, Taupaki and Riverhead to put together a Concept/Vision Plan to present to the Auckland Unitary Plan Independent Hearings Panel commissioners on the Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan.
Kumeu and Huapai have an outdated structure plan and there is no Concept/Vision Plan for the wider district. At hearings the commissioners showed a willingness to listen and respond positively to community groups. There was a noticeable difference between the commissioner’s interim guidance and the Auckland Council position.
During the week 27-31 July 2015 a questionnaire was delivered to over 2,500 residences and businesses in the Kumeu-Huapai, Riverhead and Taupaki district. The objective was to ascertain the community's view of proposed development in the district and thereby inform our submission to the AUPIHP commissioners on the desired future of our district. This information formed the basis of our submission to the unitary plan commissioners at the zoning hearing on 31 March 2016.
